Job Summary:

The Business Development Manager – Solar & Wind will be responsible for identifying, developing, and nurturing new business opportunities for solar PV and wind power projects across India. This role requires a strong understanding of the renewable energy market, excellent relationship-building skills, and the ability to identify potential clients and projects from initial lead generation to successful contract closure.

Qualifications:

  1. MBA / PGDM from a reputable institution is mandatory.
  2. B.E / B. Tech in (Electrical, Mechanical or Renewable Energy). Electrical preferred.
  3. 2-5 years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or client management roles within the renewable energy sector, with demonstrable exposure to both solar and wind projects.
  4. Proven track record of identifying and qualifying new business opportunities.
  5. Strong understanding of the solar and wind energy project lifecycle, including development, financing, construction, and operation.
  6. Knowledge of India’s renewable energy market dynamics, policies, and regulatory landscape (especially in Karnataka and other key states).
  7. Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation, and negotiation skills.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective client relationships.
  9. Self-motivated, target-driven, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
  10. Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint and Excel).
  11. Willingness to travel extensively as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Research & Opportunity Identification:
    • Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, potential new markets, competitive landscapes, and regulatory changes in the solar and wind energy sectors across various states in India.
    • Identify potential clients (e.g., large industrial & commercial (I&C) consumers, government entities, discoms, independent power producers (IPPs), land aggregators) for solar and wind projects.
    • Track and analyze tender opportunities (e.g., SEB, SECI, State agency tenders) for utility-scale solar and wind projects.
  • Lead Generation & Client Relationship Management:
    • Generate new leads through various channels including networking, industry events, cold outreach, and market intelligence.
    • Initiate and build strong relationships with potential clients, understanding their energy needs and pain points.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for initial client engagements and inquiries.
    • Maintain and update a robust pipeline of qualified leads and opportunities.
  • Proposal Development Support:
    • Collaborate with internal teams (Project Development, Engineering, Finance, Legal) to understand project feasibility, technical requirements, and financial viability for both solar and wind projects.
    • Assist in the preparation of compelling proposals, presentations, and pitch documents tailored to client requirements and tender specifications.
    • Support the commercial team in negotiating terms and conditions for new contracts.
  • Feasibility & Due Diligence Support:
    • Support preliminary site assessments and feasibility studies for potential solar and wind project locations.
    • Assist in gathering necessary data and documentation for project due diligence.
  • Strategic Growth Initiatives:
    • Contribute to the development of business development strategies and plans for Sunfan Energy’s solar and wind portfolios.
    • Identify strategic partnerships and collaboration opportunities to enhance market reach and project execution capabilities.
  • Reporting & CRM Management:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all business development activities, client interactions, and pipeline status in the company’s CRM system.
    • Prepare regular reports on business development progress, market insights, and forecasts for management.
