Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer – Wind will be responsible for supporting the detailed electrical engineering, site supervision, and commissioning activities for wind power projects. This role involves ensuring the correct installation, testing, and performance of all electrical components from the wind turbine generator (WTG) to the collection system, substation, and grid interconnection, in compliance with designs and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  1. B.E /B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
  2. 2-5 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering roles, specifically in the construction, installation, or commissioning of wind power projects.
  3. Strong understanding of wind turbine generator (WTG) electrical systems, wind farm collection networks, and substation interfaces.
  4. In-depth knowledge of Indian Electrical Rules (IE Rules), IS Standards relevant to wind farm electrical installations, and CEA Regulations.
  5. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, SLDs, and layouts.
  6. Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and procedures relevant to wind farms.
  7. Basic knowledge of electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP is a plus).
  8. Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills for complex electrical systems.
  9. Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  10. Willingness to travel frequently to project sites across India.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Review & Support (Wind Specific):
    • Review and understand detailed electrical designs, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and layout drawings for wind farms, focusing on internal collection systems (e.g., 33kV/66kV lines), turbine internal electricals, and substation interfaces.
    • Verify technical compliance of proposed equipment (WTGs, transformers, switchgear, protection relays, cabling) with project requirements and industry standards.
    • Assist senior engineers in optimizing electrical layouts and system configurations specific to wind farm topology.
  • Site Supervision & Execution (Wind Specific):
    • Provide direct on-site supervision for all electrical installation activities, including WTG internal electrical connections, cabling (underground/overhead), switchgear installation, transformer connections, earthing systems, and control & communication cabling.
    • Ensure strict adherence to approved drawings, electrical codes (IE Rules, IS Standards), safety regulations, and quality control procedures during installation.
    • Conduct regular quality checks on electrical works and ensure proper workmanship, especially during turbine assembly and connection.
  • Testing & Commissioning (Wind Specific):
    • Oversee and actively participate in pre-commissioning checks and functional testing of wind turbine electrical systems, collection network, and substation components.
    • Support the commissioning team in final testing and grid synchronization of the wind power plant.
    • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving complex electrical issues specific to wind turbine operation and grid integration during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Material Management & Quality Control:
    • Verify the quality and quantity of incoming electrical materials on site against approved specifications and bills of material.
    • Manage the proper storage and handling of sensitive and specialized electrical equipment.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate site records, daily progress reports for electrical works, test reports, and as-built drawings.
    • Prepare and submit technical reports on electrical issues, progress updates, and compliance.
  • Coordination & Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Project Managers, Wind Design Engineers, Civil Engineers, and Procurement teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical works within the overall project schedule.
    • Liaise with WTG manufacturers, contractors, vendors, and utility representatives on electrical matters.
