Job Summary: The Manager – Power Purchase Agreements (Solar & Wind) will be responsible for originating, negotiating, and securing long-term Power Purchase Agreements for Sunfan Energy’s solar and wind power projects. This role requires a deep understanding of energy markets, regulatory frameworks, commercial negotiation skills, and the ability to structure PPAs that align with project economics and strategic growth objectives.

Qualifications:

  • MBA / PGDM from a reputable institution is mandatory.
  • B.E / B. Tech Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of progressive experience in power purchase, PPA origination, commercial operations, or business development roles within the renewable energy (solar, wind, or hybrid) or power sector.
  • Demonstrable experience in negotiating commercial contracts, preferably PPAs.
  • Strong understanding of electricity markets, regulatory frameworks (CERC/SERC regulations), and policy landscape governing renewable energy in India.
  • Familiarity with financial modeling concepts, IRR analysis, and key project finance metrics related to PPA evaluation.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of managing complex commercial processes.
  • Willingness to travel frequently as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PPA Origination & Relationship Management:
    • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential off-takers for solar and wind power, including state distribution companies (DISCOMs), large industrial & commercial (I&C) consumers, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and open-access consumers.
    • Proactively identify opportunities for long-term PPAs through competitive bidding (tenders/auctions), bilateral negotiations, and direct proposals.
    • Represent Sunfan Energy in various forums, industry associations, and discussions related to power procurement.
  • Tender Participation & Bid Management:
    • Monitor and analyze tenders/auctions released by central agencies (e.g., SECI, NTPC) and state agencies (e.g., KPTCL, state DISCOMs) for solar and wind power procurement.
    • Manage the end-to-end bid submission process, ensuring compliance with tender specifications, timelines, and technical/commercial requirements.
    • Coordinate with internal teams (Project Development, Engineering, Finance, Legal) to gather all necessary inputs for competitive bidding.
  • PPA Negotiation & Structuring:
    • Lead or actively participate in the negotiation of commercial terms and conditions of PPAs with off-takers, focusing on tariff, tenure, payment security mechanisms, curtailment clauses, and other critical commercial aspects for both solar and wind.
    • Work closely with the Legal team to finalize PPA drafts, ensuring robust contractual agreements that protect the company’s interests.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of PPA terms to assess their financial impact and alignment with project IRR targets.
  • Market & Regulatory Analysis:
    • Stay abreast of the latest developments in India’s power sector, including electricity policies, renewable energy regulations, tariff trends, open access charges, and grid integration challenges specific to solar and wind.
    • Analyze market dynamics, power demand-supply scenarios, and the competitive landscape for power procurement.
    • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to management based on market and regulatory intelligence.
  • Financial & Commercial Viability Assessment:
    • Collaborate with the finance team to assess the financial viability of PPA terms, ensuring attractive returns for projects.
    • Understand the interplay between PPA terms, project costs, and financing structures.
  • Internal Coordination & Strategy:
    • Work closely with the Project Development and Project Management teams to ensure PPA terms are achievable and integrated into project execution plans.
    • Contribute to the overall commercial strategy for portfolio growth and risk mitigation.
