Job Summary:

The O&M Manager (Solar & Wind) will be responsible for overseeing the complete operations and maintenance activities for Sunfan Energy’s portfolio of solar and wind power plants. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise across both solar PV and wind turbine technologies, excellent operational management skills, a commitment to safety and efficiency, and the ability to lead and develop a team of site personnel to maximize plant uptime, energy generation, and asset health.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy Engineering, or a closely related field. Electrical is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of progressive experience in Operations & Maintenance roles within the renewable energy sector, with demonstrable hands-on experience in managing both solar PV and wind power plants.
  • Strong technical understanding of solar PV systems (modules, inverters, trackers), wind turbine generator (WTG) components (nacelle, blades, tower, drive train), and common electrical infrastructure (substations, SCADA, control systems).
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage field teams effectively.
  • Excellent analytical skills for performance monitoring, fault diagnosis, and data interpretation.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Indian Electrical Rules (IE Rules), CEA Regulations, safety standards, and O&M best practices.
  • Proficiency in O&M software, SCADA systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and potentially reside at project sites as per operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Performance Management:
    • Monitor the daily performance of solar and wind power plants to ensure optimal energy generation, availability, and grid compliance.
    • Implement strategies to maximize plant uptime, minimize downtime, and improve overall plant efficiency (PR/CUF).
    • Analyze performance data, identify deviations, and conduct root cause analysis for underperformance in both solar and wind assets.
  • Maintenance Planning & Execution:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules and procedures for:
      • Solar PV: Modules, inverters, string combiners, mounting structures, SCADA, trackers, electrical systems.
      • Wind: Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), blades, gearboxes, generators, control systems, yaw/pitch systems.
      • Common: Substations (up to 33kV/66kV/110kV/220kV depending on site), switchyards, evacuation lines, transformers, protection systems, meteorological stations, communication systems, civil infrastructure (roads, fences, control rooms).
    • Oversee all maintenance activities on site, ensuring they are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of O&M engineers, technicians, and site staff.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety consciousness, and operational excellence within the O&M team.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and facilitate skill development for site personnel.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Management:
    • Ensure strict adherence to all company EHS policies, industry best practices, and statutory safety regulations (e.g., Factories Act, Electrical Safety Guidelines).
    • Implement safe work procedures, conduct regular safety audits, and promote a proactive safety culture across all O&M activities for both solar and wind.
    • Manage and investigate any incidents or near misses.
  • Performance Monitoring, Analysis & Reporting:
    • Utilize SCADA, monitoring platforms, and O&M management software to track real-time and historical performance data for solar and wind assets.
    • Prepare detailed operational reports, performance summaries, and analytical insights for management, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) like availability, generation, PR, and maintenance costs.
    • Develop and implement data-driven strategies for continuous performance optimization.
  • Spares Management & Logistics:
    • Manage critical spare parts inventory for both solar and wind specific components, ensuring availability and optimizing costs.
    • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams for timely delivery of required materials and equipment.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management:
    • Manage and supervise third-party O&M contractors, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs – for WTGs/inverters), and specialized service providers, ensuring adherence to SLAs and contract terms.
    • Oversee warranty claims and service agreement compliance.
  • Budget Management:
    • Prepare and manage the annual O&M budget for the assigned portfolio of solar and wind plants, ensuring cost-effective operations.
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining high operational standards.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:
    • Liaise effectively with grid operators, DISCOMs, regulatory bodies, and other external stakeholders regarding plant operations, grid connectivity, and compliance.
