Job Summary: The Wind Civil Engineer will be responsible for supporting and overseeing all civil engineering aspects unique to wind power projects, from detailed design review and site preparation to the construction of wind turbine foundations, heavy haul roads, and other essential balance of plant (BOP) civil infrastructure. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, to the highest quality standards, and in adherence to project specifications and timelines.

Qualifications:

  1. B.E / B. Tech in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  2. 2-5 years of progressive experience in civil construction and project execution, with significant experience directly in wind power projects, heavy industrial projects, or large-scale infrastructure projects involving significant earthwork and heavy foundations.
  3. Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and quality control procedures specific to wind farms.
  4. Proficiency in AutoCAD and working knowledge of other relevant civil engineering software (e.g., for structural analysis, quantity surveying) is a plus.
  5. In-depth knowledge of relevant Indian Standards (IS Codes) related to civil construction, concrete, soil mechanics, and structural design.
  6. Proven ability to manage and supervise complex civil works on site, manage contractors, and ensure project execution as per plan.
  7. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  8. Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  9. Willingness to travel frequently and work in challenging site conditions across India.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Review & Technical Analysis (Wind Specific):Review and analyze civil engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for wind farms, with a specific focus on:
  1. Wind Turbine Foundations: Detailed understanding and review of various foundation types (e.g., gravity, rock anchor, piled foundations) based on geotechnical reports and turbine supplier requirements.
  2. Heavy Haul Roads & Access Roads: Design review and planning for robust roads capable of transporting large wind turbine components. Substation civil works, control buildings, and other auxiliary structures within a wind farm Identify potential design conflicts, constructability issues, or optimization opportunities unique to wind projects and propose effective solutions to senior engineers/managers.
  • Site Preparation & Earthworks Management:
    1. Oversee and manage site surveys, topographic mapping, and detailed geotechnical investigations for wind farm development.
    2. Supervise and manage extensive earthwork activities including cut & fill operations, excavation for large foundations, backfilling, and compaction, ensuring strict adherence to design and quality standards.
  • Wind Turbine Foundation Construction Supervision:
    1. Directly supervise and manage the construction of wind turbine foundations, ensuring precise execution as per technical specifications, quality control plans, and concrete mix designs.
    2. Ensure proper concrete pouring, curing, rebar placement, and all structural elements meet the stringent requirements for turbine support.
  • Access Road & Infrastructure Development (Wind Specific):
    1. Manage the construction and maintenance of robust internal and access roads, specifically focusing on the engineering requirements for heavy haulage of wind turbine components.
    2. Oversee the development of drainage systems, culverts, and bridges designed to withstand heavy loads and site-specific weather conditions.
  • Quality Assurance & Control:
    1. Implement and monitor rigorous quality control procedures for all civil construction activities on wind farms, including material testing (concrete, soil, aggregates), compaction tests, and workmanship quality.
    2. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure work conforms to design specifications, relevant Indian Standards (e.g., IS Codes), international best practices, and turbine manufacturer guidelines.
    3. Prepare and maintain detailed quality records, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Compliance:
    1. Ensure strict adherence to company EHS policies and all statutory safety regulations on wind farm sites, specifically addressing hazards related to large-scale civil works, heavy machinery, and component transportation.
    2. Conduct safety toolbox talks, identify potential hazards, and implement immediate corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
    3. Ensure compliance with environmental norms and local regulations during all civil construction activities.
  • Contractor & Vendor Management:
    1. Coordinate and supervise civil contractors, specialized sub-contractors (e.g., for foundation drilling, heavy lifting civil support), and material suppliers, ensuring their work aligns with project plans, quality standards, and contractual terms.
    2. Review contractor’s method statements, work plans, and progress claims for civil aspects.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    1. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including daily progress reports, site diaries, measurement books, material consumption records, and correspondence related to civil works.
    2. Prepare and present accurate civil work progress updates, identify potential delays, and propose solutions to the Project Manager.
  • Technical Support & Problem Solving:
    1. Provide expert technical support and resolve on-site civil engineering issues and challenges unique to wind farm development in coordination with senior engineers and project managers.
    2. Assist in conducting site surveys and collecting detailed data for design modifications or clarifications.
